313. Life does not begin or end at any age
To my knowledge, “THE STORMY ROAD” was the first book published on a first-time author's 100th birthday, and the author was still alive and well.
It was written by Gertrude Phillipson, who claimed at the book's launch that she had not even started writing it until she was 91.
The foreword was penned by the renowned author George Sava. He expressed his hope to write the introduction to her second novel in the future.
He stated: “Life does not begin or end at any age. It goes on from our first day to our last, and Gertrude Phillipson has shown us how to enjoy it to the full.”
I believe life is cruel to everyone, barring the few. Even the few must be having some internal pain that we don’t know.
My observations are based on interactions and associations with some of the most successful people.
However, they didn’t show their pain to everyone and took life as it came.
I remember a few lines penned by Bertolt Brecht –
“In the dark times
Will there also be singing?
Yes, there will also be singing.
About the dark times.”
Those people I just mentioned above had one special quality: they knew the art of enjoying the songs of the dark times.
I am trying to follow them.
