5.
watching now our iconoclastic expression
hordes of blood-sucking vultures
create an escapist fantasy
where poverty and protests are dirty words
the hounds have robbed us
of every inch of our fertile land
made every house in my village
to reek with the smell of death
they know how to amass wealth
while teaching us how to sink
into abysmal poverty
how long can I fill up
my belly with water
when I am hungry
how long I can watch
funeral fire of dissatisfaction and
a silent procession
of suppressed wailings
with the burden of the memory
of my family you killed
for their sin of desire
to live like human beings
1 speak about
the disappointed hopes
after independence
how long should I live like dogs
it's now time for you
to remember
all four-footed animals
need not be a dog
