11. Street Dreams

Just before I was getting ready, as usual, to post one of my recently written poems here, I checked my mail.

Surprisingly I found the above photograph and the poem below from a very young poet and artist, Soham Ambavane, who is in his final year of Industrial Designing.

I just couldn’t resist the temptation to present him before you.

So read on what a sensitive, barely twenty plus, boy feels while roaming the streets.

Street Dreams

Under bright lights,
three quiet hearts sleep
hunger curled beneath the night.

Food is served,
coins change hands,
but kindness is the meal they need most.

They ask for nothing,
 just a corner of peace
a place where the cold can’t reach.

In their stillness,
a city is mirrored
showing who we truly are.
