Long ago, someone shared with me a few lines that came to mind while reading Laila Cunningham’s statement, the Reform Party’s candidate for the 2028 London mayoral elections. 

Just four lines titled “The Wings within the Burqa” say a lot - 

Like anyone else, she dreamed high 

But what could she do with herself chained?

She hoped someone would see her cry

But under the veil, who knew she pained.
