187. War is not the answer; it never was

Eliaser Ndeshaanya is a Namibian poet whose poems advocate for peace.

A reader of mine shared his poem titled “Stop War,” which conveys a lot.

Read here the full poem –

In a world where peace seems far away,
Let us gather our voices, let us have our say.
For war brings destruction, pain, and despair,
It's time to unite, to show that we care.

Let's put down the weapons, let's end the fight,
Embrace understanding, with all our might.
For in the darkness, a glimmer of hope,
A chance to heal, to learn to cope.

War knows no boundaries; it knows no race,
It leaves behind scars that time cannot erase.
But together we stand, hand in hand,
To build a future that's grand.

Let's sow seeds of love, let's nurture compassion,
For in unity lies our greatest passion.
Let's bridge the divides, let's heal the wounds,
Let's create a world where peace abounds.

For war is not the answer, it never was,
It's time to break free, to rise above.
Let's choose dialogue, let's choose peace,
And let our conflicts finally cease.

So let us come together, one and all,
To answer the world's desperate call.
For in our hands lies the power to change,
To end the wars, to rearrange.

Let's build a world where love is the guide,
Where peace and harmony forever reside.
For in our hearts, the power lies,
To stop the wars, to make the skies.

So let us stand strong, let us unite,
And put an end to this endless fight.
For in our hands, the future we hold,
A world without war, a story yet untold.
