212. Jomhuri-ye Eslāmi-ye Irān

Iran holds the record for the second-shortest national anthem in the world, after the Japanese national anthem, “Kimigayo,” which has 7 lines.

Adopted in 1990, it is known as “Mehr-e Khavaran” and was selected in a competition.

It replaced the previous anthem used during Ruhollah Khomeini's rule.

It was composed by Hassan Riyahi, with lyrics by Sayed Bagheri.

The English translation goes like this –

On the horizon the eastern sun rises
The sight of the true believers

Bahman is the brilliance of our Faith
O, Imam, your message

“independence, freedom” is imprinted on our souls
Martyrs, your cries have rung in our ears through the time
Remain continuing and eternal
The Islamic Republic of Iran

If we read the original Persian song, it's really very musical.

Read it here in Roman -

Sar zad az ofoq mehr-e khāvarān
forugh-e dide-ye haq bāvarān
Bahman farr-e Imān-e māst
Payāmat ey Emām "esteqlāl, āzādi" naqsh-e jān-e māst
Shahidān pichide dar gush-e zamān faryādetān
Pāyande māni o jāvedān
Jomhuri-ye Eslāmi-ye Irān
