24. Album

Photographs

Sharpen longing eyes of

Memories pasted all over

Selectively in apple-pie order

The only felicitous feature

Of this dreary life as

Thoughts wander far and wide

With a strange smile

You are hiding behind the door

You are speaking on phone

You just throw yourself in my arms

You snuggle and kiss my chest

Images come back over and over

As I examine your portrait

Crossing again and again

Each other’s path

Floating across the sky

Covered in icy sunshine

Our innocence

Never grinds to a halt

Snowflakes fall on us

Lifting up tides in our vein

And we float

And float and float

In the warm and languid night

Your radiant smile

Beyond my grasp

An album is not the last resort

Of memories

Because pictures do lie

And

We all lie for pictures
