जब-जब

जब जब आंखों से आंसू छलका है 

कोई दर्दे-शिकन चेहरे पर आया है 

कोई सुबह देख जब मेरा जी ललचाया है 

उस वक्त तुम्हारा नूर मुझे याद आया है

जब किसी मदभरी रातों में जुगनू चमका है 

जब किसी झील ने मुझको गीत सुनाया है 

निंदियारी पलकों में जब चेहरा उभरा है 

उस वक्त तुम्हारा रूप मुझे याद आया है

सुबह शाम की खींचतान में 

रात कभी जब रोई सिसकी 

सागर में मूरत पाने को 

जब बादल कोई दौड़ा है

जब जब चंदा ने मुझको पास बुलाया है 

जब जब बरखा की आग देह में सुलगी है 

जब जब अनजानी राहों का आइस आया है 

उस वक्त तुम्हारा संग मुझे याद आया है

Whenever

whenever tears have fallen from my eyes, 

whenever pain has shown on my face, 

whenever I have yearned to see the dawn, 

I remember the light that shines on your face

when a firefly glows on a warm summer night,

when the lake hums for me, 

imitating your melodious voice

when you appear in my sleepy eyelids

I remember your jabbering

whenever the night weeps 

in the tug-of-war 

between morning and evening 

whenever a cloud runs 

to discover its shape in the ocean,

whenever the moon calls me close by, 

whenever the rain ignites my body, 

whenever unfamiliar paths call to me, 

I remember the road leading to your house
