119. War has never solved a problem
Latest news from Gaza is that Hospitals are running out of essential supplies such as gauze, antiseptics, thermometers and antibiotics. Secondly, Israel airstrikes continue killing people and injuring hundreds every day almost.
That only confirms my views that there isn’t much difference from the period before the ceasefire.
Surprisingly we are still unclear who is stopping the supplies to reach Gaza?
Humanitarian organisations have been sending tonnes of supplies and even increased the number of trucks since the announcement of ceasefire.
Israel denies accusations it is deliberately obstructing aid, and accuses Hamas of stealing humanitarian assistance.
Media report say more than 350 deaths in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire. Malnutrition remains the big problem. Changing weather condition with no shelter to save from that will be disastrous for the residents.
The first stage of the ceasefire agreement is almost done with as the return of all living hostages held by Hamas is over.
The two-year war in Gaza was triggered when Hamas-led militants killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251 during a surprise attack into Israel in October 2023.
More than 69,000 Palestinians, mostly civilians, were killed in the ensuing Israeli offensive and bodies of thousands remain under the rubble.
Zohran Mamdani’s victory in mayoral election should have been a wake-up call for the prime minister Netanyahu government.
Because New York has the largest Jewish population in the United States – and the second-largest of any city in the world after Tel Aviv.
Mamdani during the campaign spoke about the genocide that Israel was committing in Gaza. He even said he would arrest Netanyahu were he to show up in New York.
Still New York’s Jewish voters cast a ballot for him.
This proves that Israel has become a pariah state not only in much of the world but even Jewish community has rejected the policy of Israel.
The country Israel has been charged with genocide before the international court of justice, and Netanyahu and his former defense minister face war-crime charges before the international criminal court for starving and depriving Palestinian civilians.
Many countries such as Britain, Canada, France and Australia have already recognized a Palestinian state.
Except the United States and India, both with their own reasons, have been extending good diplomatic support.
The big question is – how long Netanyahu can keep challenging the opposite forces?
There is a limit for everything.
He must come forward with a big heart and win the support of left over Gaza citizens by providing humanitarian aid.
Gaza will remain a neighbour, he considers them or not.
War has never solved a problem.
