161. Donald Trump’s GESTAPO patrolling US streets 

The U.S. is no longer the land of opportunity, and the famous slogan American Dream has lost its fervor.

Before a federal agent fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis two days ago, the Trump administration announced it was initiating its largest operation. 

Two days ago, a group of local civilian protesters gathered at a site where several Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were attempting to detain migrants. These agents were part of a surge of about 2,000 deportation officers deployed to Minneapolis under Trump’s initiative to target the Somali community there. 

At the scene, several witnesses recorded video of a woman driving an SUV. In the footage, an ICE agent approaches the SUV and shouts: “Get out of the car. Get out of the fucking car.” 

He stands on the driver’s side and reaches into the driver’s seat. She starts to drive off, and an officer fires three shots. The SUV crashes into a parked vehicle while onlookers scream in distress. 

This incident happened less than a mile from the location where George Floyd was killed by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in 2020. 

Since then, the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) has held demonstrations across America.

This was not an isolated incident. In September 2025, ICE agents in Chicago shot a Mexican-born cook in the neck at close range while he allegedly tried to escape from a migrant abduction operation. Also, Marimar Martinez, a 30-year-old resident, and Silverio Villegas González, an undocumented immigrant, were shot by immigration officers during a traffic stop on the outskirts of Chicago.

Homeland Security claimed that Good “weaponized her vehicle, attempting to run over our law enforcement officers. 

Immediately, Donald Trump reiterated his claim that the ICE agent who fatally shot Renee acted in self-defense. “She behaved horribly. And then she ran him over. She didn’t try to run him over. She ran him over. It’s a terrible scene. I think it’s horrible to watch. No, I hate to see it,” he said.

Although the video did not clearly show her running over the ICE agent. Instead, it shows her backing up after another agent attempts to get her out of the car, then moving forward and attempting to turn before she is shot.

Vice President JD Vance described Renee as a “deranged leftist” who attempted to run over the federal officer.

Renee Nicole Good was a U.S. citizen, and her ex-husband has said that she was returning home after dropping off her 6-year-old daughter at school and that she was not an activist.

Since December 2025, agents from ICE, Customs and Border Protection, and Homeland Security Investigations have been detaining individuals outside homes, stores, gyms, and schools across various cities. They have employed force against both undocumented immigrants and U.S. citizens, including advocates and protesters.

Since the start of Trump's second term, immigration officers have been linked to 14 shootings. In 2025, 32 people died while in ICE custody. In October 2025, a 24-year-old Honduran man died while fleeing ICE agents in Virginia. In July, a farmworker died after falling from a greenhouse roof during an ICE raid in California.

Over the past year, the Trump administration has granted ICE agents virtual impunity to inflict terror and violence on immigrant communities. Armed immigration officers even deploy chemical agents against bystanders. Most of the immigrants arrested by ICE have no criminal records.

This kind of hyper-militarized enforcement, with surges of thousands of officers, has never been seen in the US, and such shows of force make everyone in the country less safe. ICE continues to be allowed to act with impunity and without any semblance of accountability. Judges have often dismissed cases where ICE agents claimed people they shot were trying to harm officers with vehicles.
