87. A message for Donald Trump and the Many Vultures

According to the reports coming from Gaza, Israel Defense Forces have now started installing yellow concrete markers every 200 meters to delineate the area remaining under Israeli control during the first phase of the ceasefire.

This line roughly divides Gaza in half.

In the western part, Hamas is again at it - carrying out public executions of rival militia or gang members it claims are backed by Israel.

In the other half of Gaza, the IDF has been reinforcing scores of military outposts and firing at anyone approaching the yellow line.

Narrating the firing at anyone approaching the yellow line, a Palestinian boy returning to his home says, “It feels like the war hasn’t really ended for me. What’s the point of a ceasefire if I still can’t return home?”

Today, I watched a video not from a major news outlet but from an amateur freelancer.

It was a scary video.

A man was standing amidst the ruins on the street, which was once a road.

A man who has lost everything – his parents, wife, six children, and numerous relatives.

He was a Palestinian.

He was not interested in sharing his tragic story, but the videographer persisted.

While the videographer was narrating the latest plans for Gaza, the man listened coolly.

He only replied, “My Country is not Luggage and I am not a Traveler. We are here and we are not leaving.”

And the message is clear.

In the meantime, the reality is –

The International Court of Justice's rulings, which indicate a violation of the Genocide Convention and international law, merely reveal the final moments of a failing, Western-led global system.

Unwavering Western backing for Israel’s aggressive actions in Gaza has clearly revealed the U.S. and the West's double standards about human rights and international law.
