126. Why Donald Trump is an enemy of Europe

A recent survey in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Croatia, Belgium and the Netherlands has reported some very shocking revelations.

The survey found that around 51 per cent people, that means almost half of the European population see US President Donald Trump as an enemy of Europe.

The same percentage of people feel the risk of an open war with Russia in the coming years was high.

And around two-thirds believe their country would not be able to defend itself in the event of such a war. And also, around 18 per cent consider it very high.

According to the survey an average of 48 per cent of people across the nine countries see Donald Trump as an outright foe – ranging from highs of 62 per cent in Belgium and 57 per cent in France and 19 per cent in Poland.

Many openly criticised that Trumpism is a hostile force. Also, some feel that Trump is neither their friend nor foe, but large number find him hostile.

In spite of their dislike to the President majority of Europeans strongly believe that the relationship with the United States of America is strategically very important.

Europeans, it is revealed, that a compromise with US is the need of the hour ignoring Donald Trump and his histrionics.

Another survey, a nine-country poll for the Paris-based European affairs debate platform Le Grand Continent has revealed that nearly three-quarters of respondents wanted their country to stay in the EU.

In the same breath the reason they point out was almost same - leaving the union had harmed the UK.

They feel the UK’s decision to leave EU is a failure. About 63 per cent say it had had a negative impact on Britain and only 19 per cent think it had been positive.

Shockingly in this survey also, half of respondents believe risk of war with Russia is high.

I think the majority of Europeans, especially the younger lot, are very anxious. Last 60 years the kind of peace and easy life they have lived has made them a world citizen.

Secondly, they have little confidence in their nation’s military capabilities. Even 69 per cent of the respondents across the nine countries found their country was not really capable of defending itself against Russian aggression.

Now coming back to Donald Trump. I am not very clear why he is hated so much in Europe. I find him a lovable brat, with a sharp mind and business-like approach in all his dealings.

We can bear him in White House for another three years. At least he is making an all-out effort to solve the problems this world is facing. Agree or disagree we should not hate the guy.

At least for me he is a good guy.
