8. The Will

Today I am going to share a true, not a story, but the truth. Something that didn’t get any media coverage as the mainstream media has no space for such silly news items. This I am not saying, they use this language.

This is a WILL.

And this is not mine.

Here I’m only making a copy of the WILL for you to read.

Reading this Will will not put you in a pleasant mood.

Rather it will bleed your heart, well, if you have one.

“Hello! My name is Haya and I will write my will now.

My money:

45 for my mother, 5 for Zeina, 5 for Hashem, 5 for my grandma, 5 for aunt Heba and 5 for aunt Mariam, 5 for uncle Abdo and auntie Sarah.

My toys & all my stuff:

For my friends – Zeina (my sister), Deema, Menna, and Amal.

My cloths:

To my uncle’s daughters and if there is anything left, donate them.

My shoes:

Donate them to the poor and vulnerable……after washing them, of course.”

This Will was written by a Palestine child, just in case he dies because of the Israeli rockets in Gaza.

Handwritten on a piece of paper, torn from school notebook, it was found from his pocket on October 18, 2023, the day he could not escape those deadly arms and breathed his last.

The face was unrecognizable.

He was recognized with this torn paper.

According to the Gaza Health Ministry and Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as of July 30, 2025, over 62,700 people (60,785 Palestinians and 1,983 Israelis) have been reported killed in the Gaza war.

Add to the list 217 journalists and media workers, 120 academics, and over 224 humanitarian aid workers that includes 179 employees of United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

Out of the 70 per cent of the Palestinians killed were women and children.

The latest update is - Australia’s foreign minister Penny Wong said on Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to take control of the whole Gaza strip, “Australia calls on Israel to not go down this path, which will only worsen the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. Permanent forced displacement is a violation of international law.”

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said in a statement that the Israeli Government’s plan for a complete military takeover of the occupied Gaza Strip must be immediately halted. It runs contrary to the ruling of the International Court of Justice that Israel must bring its occupation to an end as soon as possible, to the realisation of the agreed two-State solution and to the right of Palestinians to self-determination.

Israel’s military chief of staff, Lt Gen Eyal Zamir remarked, “A more sweeping plan to retake all of Gaza would endanger the hostages and put added strain on the army after two years of regional wars.”

I’m afraid if anyone will listen.

Rest in peace dear Haya.

World’s 8.22 billion people hang their head in shame.

(I have excluded the number of politicians from the total world population.)
