226. The U.S. administration’s ignorant Secretaries

I strongly believe that the Trump administration is full of buffoons. They speak like dictators following their boss, Donald Trump. Watch their faces, expressions, the clenching of their teeth when emphasizing certain words, and the movement of their eyes.

They hardly speak like leaders. Like diplomats. Like someone who knows his job.

I will provide some examples – Recently, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau traveled to New Delhi to lead the U.S. delegation at the 2026 Raisina Dialogue, where he emphasized that trade agreements should prioritize American interests and stated that the U.S. will not repeat the ‘mistakes’ made with China by allowing India to become a direct competitor.

Is this how a U.S. Deputy Secretary of State would build a friendly relationship with his allies?

Now, recall what just a day ago, during a press briefing at the Pentagon, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called for “no quarter” for US enemies.

Hegseth’s exact words were, “We will keep pressing, keep pushing, keep advancing – no quarter, no mercy for our enemy.”

The gentleman is either illiterate or not educated enough to understand what the phrase “no quarter” means, or he might have used the word, thinking he was fighting with friends who had turned into enemies, while in his hostel.

Personally, when I watch him on my television, he reminds me of a character from The Godfather, similar to those surrounding Don Vito Corleone, the family head. He has the same build, piercing eyes, and hand movements while speaking. But that’s a subjective comment and should be taken humorously.

“No quarter” is a term that means taking no prisoners and killing them instead. It means enemy combatants will not be captured but will be executed instead. Under the Hague Convention, this is a war crime. An amendment to the 1907 convention later clarified that “it is especially forbidden ... to declare that no quarter will be given.”

The ICRC’s International Humanitarian Law Databases states that, under the International Criminal Court’s statute, declaring that no quarter will be given is regarded as a war crime in international armed conflicts.

If used by troops, it could potentially violate international law, breaching the law of armed conflict. It would be regarded as an illegal order and may also heighten the risk for American service members.

There are more such deputies and secretaries.

But this is not their fault. Can anyone explain why Israel and the US attacked Iran? This is a question even the duo cannot answer. Because the goal of the US mission has shifted several times since January’s naval buildup – from supporting Iranian protesters harmed in a government crackdown, to destroying Iran’s nuclear program, to disabling its ballistic missile system.

Now, it has moved to a new goal – opening the Strait of Hormuz.

Yesterday, unable to find protestors on the streets of Tehran, a frustrated Netanyahu said, "You can lead someone to a water source, but you can't make him drink." It reveals his main goal – regime change. That won't happen.

I am afraid of how the world will bear the Trump administration for another almost three years.
